Think of space like a giant trampoline. If you put a super heavy bowling ball in the middle, it makes a huge, deep hole. A black hole is formed when a massive star collapses under its own gravity at the end of its life. This creates a region of spacetime with a gravitational field so intense that nothingāno particles or even electromagnetic radiation such as lightācan escape from it. The boundary of this region is called the event horizon, marking the point of no return where escape velocity exceeds the speed of light.
